Three more local authorities go live on the National Parking Platform, accelerating national rollout

January 14, 2026

Three More Councils Join the Platform

Three additional local authorities will go live on the National Parking Platform (NPP) on Wednesday 14 January, marking another significant step forward in the platform’s national rollout.

East Hertfordshire District Council, Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council, and Stevenage Borough Council will all join the platform, bringing the benefits of simpler, more flexible parking to drivers across their areas.

The NPP enables motorists to pay for parking using the app they already know and trust, removing the need to download multiple applications or create new accounts. By connecting approved parking service providers through a single, central platform, it delivers a more consistent and user-friendly experience.

The rollout of these three authorities highlights the growing momentum behind the NPP and the increasing appetite from local authorities to modernise parking services while improving outcomes for residents and visitors.

The British Parking Association (BPA) continues to play a vital role in leading and supporting the delivery of the platform, working closely with local authorities, service providers and government to drive adoption and ensure the long-term success of the initiative.

A spokesperson for the National Parking Platform said:
“Bringing East Hertfordshire, Welwyn Hatfield and Stevenage onto the platform at the same time is a strong demonstration of the growing momentum behind the NPP.
This is exactly what the platform was designed to enable — a simpler, more flexible parking experience for drivers, delivered at scale across multiple authorities.
We’re continuing to see increasing interest from councils looking to modernise their services and be part of a more connected, future-ready parking ecosystem.”

A spokesperson for the British Parking Association said:
“The BPA is proud to be playing a central role in supporting the rollout of the National Parking Platform.
This milestone reflects the strength of collaboration across the sector and the shared commitment to delivering better, more consistent parking services for drivers.
As more local authorities join the platform, we are building real momentum towards a truly national solution.”

The National Parking Platform is not a consumer-facing app. It is the central platform that connects multiple approved parking providers, giving drivers the freedom to choose how they pay while supporting a more open and innovative market.

With more authorities preparing to go live in the coming months, the NPP continues to build towards a more connected and seamless parking experience across the UK.
